Our Y5 and Y6 girls had a fantastic day out at the Gloucestershire FA Girls' Football Festival held at Hartpury College. As well as playing four friendly matches against teams from far and wide across the county and winning all four games, the girls participated in many fun activities, including a range of competitions. During the afternoon, the girls rotated around lots of great activities including: face painting (including Miss. Featonby!), hair styling, freestyle football, reaction points, target shoot out, football inside an inflatable pitch, referee training and a speedometer game. Lucie even managed to win a brand new pair of Nike trainers and was awarded these during the closing ceremony for scoring the highest speed on the speedometer test, which was 41 mph! The girls were all interviewed and they had several photographs taken during the day with a number of Gloucestershire mascots, including Cheltenham Town's Whaddney the Robin. The event also involved a spectacular dance off between the mascots which was highly entertaining. The teams were given the opportunity to meet and speak to two of the Bristol Academy players and most of our children managed to get an autograph from the players too. The girls came home with a goody bag including a Nike sports bottle. Overall, the event was fantastically organised and the atmosphere was so positive and encouraging for the girls. The team and staff had a brilliant time and we look forward to signing up again next year. It was a superb day!
