It was a great privilege to have been invited to a session with Joe Craig at Tewkesbury School. Joe is a musician and author, and his 'Jimmy Coates' series of action, mystery and adventure books have proved to be extremely popular. Joe was at Tewkesbury
School today talking about his books, his life in general and what inspired him to write. He also gave us some really useful tips about story writing, including the three types of problem to base an idea on - 'impending doom', 'let's get personal' and 'inner demons'. He also demonstrated his story telling abilities by using a range of children's ideas to create another Jimmy Coates
story. This involved a Scottish alien moose, William drinking juice and a grandfather doing yoga! It was quite brilliant, but you had to be there to fully appreciate his amazing talent. The children had the opportunity to purchase books and Joe kindly signed books, postcards and bookmarks. He also posed with
us for a class photo. It was a brilliant session and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. You can find out more about Joe and his writing and music at www.joecraig.co.uk
