Congratulations to Izzy for her outstanding achievements with her band sale. She was recognised in this week's Gloucestershire Echo, in the Tewkesbury News section. For those of you who didn't see it, a copy of the article is below.
Fundraising Isobel Is An Inspiration
Isobel Cooper used a sad event in her life to inspire her to raise money for a good cause. The 11-year old lost her grandfather, Herbie Light, in January, when he died from cancer. But, determined to help others suffering from serious illnesses, the Tirlebrook Primary School pupil set about raising money for care charity Sue Ryder.
Using tiny coloured elastic bands, she made bracelets and rings and sold them to other pupils at the Tewkesbury school - raising an impressive total of £259.
She said, "I'm pleased with the amount of money I've raised over the last four weeks and can't wait to start a new project for the charity. I hope my work inspires others."
Isobel's effort impressed her mother, Jane Light, who said, "It's an inspiration for other children."
I would like to say thank you to Izzy for all of her hard work, determination, enthusiasm and selflessness. But I'd also like to thank the whole of Elder Class for getting behind her project and indeed the whole school community for supporting it. Well done!
This is a picture of one of my daughters wearing a wristband designed and made by Izzy. She is clearly delighted with it.
