Tirlebrook's netballers got off to a good start in the first round of the Tewkesbury Primary Sports Network's Netball League. On another mild afternoon, the team, made up of boys and girls from Years 5 and 6, played five matches in all, coming up against both large and small primary schools. Following a shaky start in a defeat to Twyning, the team gained confidence as the matches progressed and ended up with three wins and two defeats. The squad will return to Tewkesbury School to play the other teams in the league soon. Well done!
Squad: Lucie Cummings (captain), Harriet Bethel, Cerys Coxshall, Rosie Hiorns, Daisy Johansen, Zac Jones, Ria Nuttall, Jonathan Peirce & Esme Smith
Tirlebrook 0 v 3 Twyning, Tirlebrook 5 v 0 Oakhill, Tirlebrook 2 v 0 Deerhurst, Tirlebrook 1 v 3 Ashchurch, Tirlebrook 3 v 1 Tewkesbury C. of E.
The Y6 children have been working with their Learning Partners to begin making their own moving fairground rides. The rides need to rotate vertically or horizontally (or both!) and be powered by a simple electrical circuit. The children can use a pulley system or a series of gears to control the speed and direction of the movement. They are not yet in their finishing stages ... but we are getting there!
It was brilliant to see so much support for the School Council's Anti-Bullying Week 'Blue Cake' sale. Well done to everyone who contributed cakes for the sale. It was the first big event of School Council's Anti-Bullying Week and it went really successfully. Congratulations to Rosie, Ria and Jack who led the event fantastically, from allocating roles and tasks to organising the children. They can be very proud of their achievements. The sale raised well over £100!
Congratulations to the Y6 children that have achieved their Young Sports Leaders Award. A big thank you to Matt Coldrey, who kindly attended our whole-school Star Assembly, to present them with their certificate, badge and fluffy pen! We are all looking forward to seeing the youngsters lead our school sports events and active lunchtimes in a positive, respectable and confident manner this year. Special congratulations to Jessica Evans who has been elected as our Young Sports Leader Co-ordinator. We are all more than confident that she will represent her team of leaders fantastically! Well done to you all.
