As you all know, this year is an incredibly important year not just because it is your last year at Tirlebrook, but also because you will be going onto secondary school. Many of you visited Tewksbury School last week for a tour around the site and I have just been informed that they will also be holding subject sessions for those Year 6s who are planning to transition there.
They are a great way to help you become familiar with the teachers at the school and the campus, as well as making new friends. I have attached the details below. This morning we have been taking part in the K'Nex challenge; using our knowledge of Science, technology, engineering and Maths to create a carnival float. The float had to have moving parts and at least 3 wheels touching the ground. It was a tricky challenge, but everyone stuck to the task and there was some fantastic teamwork on display.
Congratulations to the winners George and Scarlet, who will be representing the school in the K'Nex challenge final in April/May next year.

Using our Scientific skills to test how we could change the brightness of a bulb. Our ideas included: using more batteries; increasing the amount of wires; and increasing the amount of bulbs in the circuit. After we had finished the experiment and compared our results, we were then perplexed as to why they were all different. However, after a discussion, we realised that there were many variables in the room that we could not control; it was these that had impacted upon the results of our experiments.
This afternoon, we also worked on our mixing and blending skills by painting a snowy landscape and creating artwork linked to the blitz.
Today, we all thoroughly enjoyed our visit from Mr Johnsey who taught us some key martial arts skills.
This afternoon, we were lucky enough to have a visit from the Life Education Team. They sent along Alex to talk to us about important decisions that we will be making over the next few years of our lives. We also looked at both illegal and legal drugs- discussing the impact that they have on both our bodies and minds. After that, we watched an example of how to deal with peer pressure- ensuring that we can make sensible decisions and have the conviction to stand by them.
Today we have been using expanded noun phrases and prepositions to describe artefacts that were discovered at Sutton Hoo in 1939.
This afternoon, we have been building circuits and learning how to show the components using electrical symbols
