I just wanted to quickly encompass what we have achieved this mporninng:
- practised hand control for writing; revisited our own personalised spelling lists; attempted SATs style Maths Papers; wrote biographies; got our heartbeats up!
Mr. Lockley has informed me you had a good afternoon together too!
What did you get most out of today?
Following some independent research, the class share their favourite facts on different areas of America...
What do you notice about the different areas of America that we looked at with this research?
I have been told the 'technical issues have been resolved' so hopefully we can all play online at 7!
Today was a public holiday in America which is known as 'Martin Luther King Jnr Day'.
The children did a vast range of activities from speech analysis in grammar to more detailed biography writing to art today...all based around Martin Luther King Jnr.
What did you enjoy the most?
Across the world, the weather seems to be misbehaving! Some places are getting heat waves whilst others are suffering from floods and snow storms. The prompt this week is:
… as the weather changed, they …
Things to consider:
I am inviting any notes in that children want to share with me in advance of their first round of the speaking competition.
We will be picking 5-6 children a day from Mon-Fri to share their entry with the class from Monday 16th January 2017 - remember the absolute maximum speaking time is 3 minutes!
This was our sticking point in Maths today... (particularly from question 'e' onwards)
Try to understand that we can regroup the expression into the parts that contain numbers only and the parts that contain letters...then they can be simplified.
Have a go if you're feeling up for the challenge!
We will do lots more of this skill so we develop our confidence in the coming days.
We looked at a few more of the features of biographies today and studied Martin Luther King, who was a hugely influential American citizen.
We read a biography about him and had a quiz...
Can you find out any more information about him? (We are going to be looking at him for the next couple of lessons).
Hopefully I will see a few of you online this evening between 7:00 and 7:30.
There was some great strength on show today in Gymnastics as we tried more adventurous balances which required more concentration and body tension than we have ever shown before...
Our English work for the next couple of weeks is going to be on biographies and autobiographies...
What is the difference?
What is your earliest memory?
